Kayaking the Great Barrier Reef

An awesome day. Headed out with a small group of 6 of us plus guide, to spend a few hours exploring the area by kayak. Weather held nicely although the wind came up quite strong.

The guide was great, and took pity on us old gals, tethering us up to his kayak so he could help by dragging us through the worst part. Poor guy. However, after the lead kayak, a couple of young, strong fellas took a dip into the heavy surf, the decision was quickly made to abort the attempt to reach our target of Little Fitzroy Island. Instead he brought us back to safety into a nice little cove aptly named Shark Fin Cove, where all we had to concern ourselves with were sighting any fins breaking the surface. Just kidding!

The coral was amazing in this location. All in all a great time.

June in front, heading out:

Some of the nice coral:

Relaxing at the snorkel spot with the guide, Brandon. Oh, and that's one of the young, strong fellas in the background.

Love your blog...and thanks for sharing your adventures. I am so jealous of the lovely weather and the beaches and the warm water.... those wet/dry suits do make quite the fashion statement. Have fun!
