Uluru (a.k.a. Ayers Rock)

A 3 hour flight took us from Sydney to Ayers Rock in the Red Centre of Australia.

A very spiritual place, it is in stark contrast to Sydney in so many ways. The red colour of the earth, the golden yellow of the grass is beautiful on its own, but throw in the monolith that is Uluru, and it is awe inspiring. Shortly after settling into our hotel, we were whisked away for the sunset at Uluru, accompanied by some munchies and cocktails (wine and champagne) after which we were taken to a dining site for a buffet BBQ. Couldn't bring myself to try the kangaroo, but otherwise the food was good and we enjoyed great company with other travellers. The finale was the turning off of all lights so that we could get a lesson on the night sky. Made me want to experience camping in the great Outback.

It was a long day but very special.
